Quantity Takeoff & Pricing
Quantity Takeoff is something that we learned to Project Controls one with professor Killingsworth and also in Project Controls two professor Olsen. In project controls one we learned to takeoff the quantities in the building by hand using architectural scales which will be very useful in the future. In project controls two we learned how to do takeoff using on screen which provides and easier and faster way to get a quantity. In my thesis i took everything off by using on screen and below you will see some snap shots of my takeoff. I set up a spread sheet in excel to show my quantity takeoff and pricing and below you see a sample of my concrete quantity takeoff page. As you can see i calculated the amount of concrete by finding the length, width, and height then multiplied by the length of the wall or square footage. After i then converted the quantity into cubic yards and then that will carry over to my pricing sheets. Also my thesis is unique because it is all electronic so as yo can see each quantity takeoff item is linked to the pricing sheet that it is located on and there is also a plan reference link that will take you to my on screen file that shows how i calculated the quantity.
After i completed my takeoff for the project i went into pricing and i used the RS means book to calculate the cost. As you can see below, the pricing sheet provides a material cost, labor cost, equipment cost, and and overall cost of each item. The labor cost is broken all the way to how many people you will need to get that production and how much you will be paying each person per hour. You can also see in the equipment cost what you will need and how much it is going to cost you everyday. I broke every pricing sheet into subcontractors and after i totaled all of the numbers on the page i multiplied by the subcontractor markup which was thirty percent.
All of the numbers from my pricing sheets are them linked to the recap sheet which will calculated my final bid number. As you can see in the recap sheet below you have to account for job site overhead and all of the other items listed.
