Schedule
Professor Thompson taught us the concept of scheduling in project control three and professor Anoop taught us how to use those concepts and schedule in P6 along with several other scheduling programs. For my thesis i decided to use P6 because it is a program widely used in the industry and i wanted to get more experience using it. Scheduling is all about sequencing and know what activities need to happen before the next item can proceed. Many items on a project can have long leed times and that is also important when scheduling activities. You also don't want a contractor leaving the site for a week and have to come back because he may not be able to get enough men to get the work done. Right now there is a skilled labor shortage in most of the United Sates and you want to keep your guys on site until the job is done. As you can see in the schedule below the red marks the critical path of the project. After adding all of the activities you ass the predecessors and successors which decides the flow of the schedule. After completing the schedule i added in the cost of each activity which came from my CPM worksheet and this allows me to produce pay applications for each month. I also put each schedule item into a schedule of value which is linked to each subcontractor. This makes it very easy when i produce a report for each month it will tell me how much i owe each contractor and how much work they have done.
