Safety Plan
Bo Jackson, the superintendent, will serve as the safety manager for the Joe’s Crab Shack in Savannah, GA. Bo has been in the construction for twenty years serving in several different positions. Bo is OSHA 60 certified and attends OSHA safety classes monthly to continue to gain knowledge about safety. Bo’s first priority when he walks on the site everyone is being safe and following the rules and regulations. He has never received any safety from OSHA in his entire construction career and we know that will continue.
Before a sub-contractor is allowed to entire the site he must submit a site safety plan that all of his workers must know about. Every worker will also be required to watch a short safety video and they will receive a sticker to put on their hard hat showing that they watched the video. They will also be required to sign and date a sheet of paper which helps up keep track who has been on the site throughout the whole project. The foreman for each subcontractor will be responsible that every worker is wearing the correct safety gear while on the site. On our site we will require a hard hat that meets code, boots, safety glasses, and a safety vest.
Every Monday Bo and the rest of the project team will hold a safety meeting before everyone begins for the week. In this meeting we will go over any problems we recognized the week before and how we will go about correcting the problem. We will keep documentation of every safety offense and have a three system which will be included in every sib contractor’s contract. If they have three safety violations then they will be removed from the site and not allowed back on. We take safety very serious at Himes Construction and we do not want anyone hurt on our watch.
Every subcontractor will also have to report every morning to Bo and tell him how many men will be on the site for the day. Knowing how many people are on site every day is very important for safety. Subs must also provide documentation for every worker and a drug test for everyone on site.
