Site Utilization
The location of this Joe’s Crab Shack is on River Street in downtown Savannah, GA which can cause some problems for the construction process. River Street is the busiest street in Savannah which will make deliveries more complicated because we will not be able to shut down the street. As you can see in the site utilization plan below, will be taking advantage of half of the asphalt lot next to the site for construction use. This lot will allow us a clean place for material lay down, job trailer, portable toilets, and a meeting area. The overall footprint of the building is just under half an acre so it is a fairly small site. On the back site of the building is the Savannah River which can also cause problems. Since we are located right next to the river we will have to be very careful about site runoff and containing everything to the site.
The first step before even moving onto the site is to set up a temporary fence along with all other erosion control. The city of Savannah is very specific in the plans about their erosion control requirements and we want to make sure and keep them happy. Once we have placed all erosion control then we will place our temporary construction road which you can see in pink on the right of the building. After that has been placed we will bring in our job trailer to place to the right of the construction entrance. As of now Himes Construction does not plan to work at night on this project so we will not need temporary lighting in but if needed we have a temporary hook up in the southeast of the site.
I have placed a lunch/meeting area behind the jobsite to serve several purposes. A clean site is a happy site so I would lie to contain all lunch and food waste to the lunch area. This will give the workers a centralized location to eat lunch and have daily subcontractor meetings. This may also prevent subcontractors from going off site to eat and staying on site which can increase productivity. The superintendent can also hold weekly safety meetings and other meetings in the area instead of brining everyone in the job trailer. The dumpsters will be also be located in the southeast corner of the site because of easy access of dump trucks to pick them up.
